On Saturday 15th December Cornwall’s Eden Project was temporarily closed due to flood water, following heavy rains brought in by storm Deirdre.
However, by Saturday afternoon the management team at Eden were able to confirm that events planned for the weekend, such as their spectacular evening Shadows and Light Christmas experience, could go ahead as planned.
Local flood response firm, Richfords Fire and Flood, were called in to assist the dedicated team at Eden.
Richfords Technician Martyn Henniker said: “When we got the call, from Eden, we knew we needed to act fast, Eden is a big attraction and we knew they would have a lot of Christmas events on.
“The team and I quickly got to site. Working in collaboration with the team at Eden, the site was soon clear of water and they were able to re-open to the public.”
Richfords Managing Director, Steven Richford, commented: “At Richfords we love taking on the challenge of each incident and working hard to help people and businesses recover. I am so pleased that Eden was able to re-open on the day.”
Richfords have been part of Eden’s Emergency Flood Response Plan since 2010 and it seems having Richfords number to hand really helped saved the day.
